Elders and Deacons
The New Testament has two identified leadership roles in church life: elders and deacons. They are servant leaders helping to bring shape and leadership to the Holy Spirit’s activity in the church.
Elders function as guardians in the church, ensuring a good balance of vision and security are in place. Ultimately they’re accountable to God for the health and gospel faithfulness of the church.
Deacons operate as Champions of church life, bringing leadership, encouragement and faith to the community.
Together they form the senior leadership team of the church.
Elder Ross
Is an elder and had his life turned upside down by God as a teenager. Since then he's been learning to partner with God in prayer and prophecy. He gets a twinkle in his eye whenever he's got a prophetic word to share (so watch out) and is passionate about seeing Jesus change lives. Professionally he's a chef and entrepreneur; currently he’s developing his own business growing micro greens, select his image to check it out.
Deacon Debora
Is one of the deacons. She heads up our midweek Life Café, is our Operations Manager and is part of the preaching team. She's an absolute fire cracker for Jesus and got buckets of faith and patience. Originally from Brazil, she lived for many years in Paraguay before coming to the UK. Married to Tiago, she has two children, and is fuelled by coffee and grace.
Deacon Amy
Is a deacon and responsible for pastoring our 6-11s. She works in a local primary school, has three boys, a labrador and is married to Jez. She likes working with kids, mainly because she feels they're more on her level (which may be why she married Jez). She loves a good takeaway and is always searching for an excuse to escape the house to take the dog for a walk!
Elder Jez
Is one of the elders. He became a Christian as a teenager from a previously non-churched background and is still blown away at the amazing goodness of God toward him. He’s married to Amy and has three pet children and a dog. He also produces a podcast featuring conversations on leadership and the Christian life, simply click on the photo to be redirected there.
Deacon Michelle
Is a deacon responsible for helping welcome and integrate people into the church. She's passionate about justice and Jesus, is a qualified midwife and spends much of her time training and championing student midwives. Married to Kev she has three children. If you’re new to church life and would like help to feel at home, Michelle's here for you.
Elder Martin
Is one of the elders. Jesus grabbed hold of him as a teenager and whilst finishing his degree at Uni in Eastbourne heard from God about being part of the church plant in Seaford that's become Life Church Seaford. One of the founding planters of the church, he's got stories to tell! He's passionate about West Ham (nobody's perfect), his wife (better), Polly and their 3 boys.
Deacon Jane
Is one of the deacons and responsible for our safeguarding. She works with the local charity Waves as a family support worker and is amazing at coming alongside and encouraging young families; she has a massive heart for hospitality and community. Jane's a total legend and leads our Sunday creche for 0-3s.
Deacon Bill & Fran
Are deacons responsible for our social action. They're amazing at offering support and help to people in need. They live life at full speed, are full of determination and faith, and are oozing with encouragement and practical know-how. They’re pioneers and together they head up our social action work. They also love to run the CAP Money Course that offers practical budgeting advice, so - you know - get in touch...
Deacon Jon
Is one of the deacons and responsible for leading our worship team. He’s got more energy than several duracell batteries and somehow manages to work as a gardener by day, play ice hockey by night and lead the worship on weekends! He’s married to the amazingly creative Abbey and is a dad to three feisty boys.
